Grade R - 3: Foundation Phase The Foundation Phase is very privileged to have eight enthusiastic educators who still believe in the core of teaching and assisting children in their early development. We still emphasize teaching the basic Writing, Reading and Arithmetic’s skills on a daily basis. We are very proud of our Grade 3 learners from previous years who excelled in the National Standard Tests and achieved averages in the high 90’s. The Foundation Phase also takes part in a Yearly National Olympiad and achieves very good results in respect to other schools throughout South Africa. Each class has an interactive whiteboard which is used by the teacher and the learners as a modern, functional teaching tool. The learners experience different fields of browsing the internet for more classified information on class topics and discussions, as well as how to use all the tools and multimedia provided by the interactive boards. No more writing with chalk on green boards, only the latest technology is needed to explore the unexploited. We focus on mass participation and include a Skills program within our normal school day. The learners get the change to develop their skills in basic school sports and also take part in school sport festivals and other matches against local schools. A good balance is kept between developing basic skills and coping and adjusting as a team member.
We also make time to have fun and each grade goes out on a few outings
throughout the year, takes part in a concert and enjoys events organized by the
school and parents. |
