SPORT: As a centre of excellence it is our mission to create an environment in which every boy can reach his full potential in the academic, cultural and sporting field. We also want to remain loyal to our three traditions of good conduct, good scholarship and good sportsmanship. Sport plays an important role in children’s education. We participate in the following different sport codes: WINTER: rugby, hockey and in SUMMER: tennis, cricket, athletics, swimming, golf and chess. We also participate in other extra mural activities. This year, more children have participated in the programme than ever before, which proves that we have created a competitive and enjoyable sporting environment. The large number of children participating in sport at BPS has forced us to hire and purchase more playing fields so that all boys can be accommodated in match fixtures and practices. All our teachers are involved in coaching. We also make use of students, parents and professional coaches to assist us. The ball skills sessions
for Grade 1 and 2 boys, during the first and forth terms, were focused on
cricket and swimming. With the help from some of the student coaches, these boys
were taught various skills and techniques to improve their skills level. It was
remarkable to see the improvement that these boys made during the year. In term
two and three, the focus was on rugby and hockey related skills. The
students and teachers ran the programme and each boy benefited from the various
skills that were taught during these two terms. |
