(Please click here for the Afrikaans version)
Planning:
Planning is done per term and is completed within the first
two weeks of the term. Every educator is supplied with a curriculum plan
with due dates for all control purposes. This includes curriculum and
learning area meetings, learning and module controls. class visit dates,
assessment and test dates, cross evaluation etc.
Modules:
Senior Phase modules are presently being moderated by a group of parents.
Errors are then corrected by the relevant educators, changes are made and extra
information is added. Modules are then rolled off and handed to the
learners during the first week of the term. Learners and educators then
change classes during the second week of the term according to the time table.
Contact with GHS in regard to modules is being planned for the
first term.
Resources:
Mimio/white board lessons are being grouped on the computer system this year
according to learning areas for use in both the Senior and Junior Phases.
The library is being moved and will be in use from the third week of the term.
The Cami Centre for Maths and Reading instruction is also used for all grades
from the second week according to the time table. Learners with learning
obstacles are, from this year, being withdrawn from their classes to receive
didactical help from Mrs. Pepler.
Assessment:
A new system of assessment in the Senior Phase is being implemented during
2009. Formal assessment tasks, tests and examination marks are being
combined for the report marks. The learners in each learning area will be
thoroughly informed as to which tasks will be used for this formal assessment.
The marks will then be entered on a spread sheet and from there report marks
will be calculated. The due dates for projects will be given within the
the first two weeks of a new term. Baseline assessment for Mathematics and
Home Language is completed after the end of the first week of the year.
