The 2011 hockey season at Paarl Boys’ Primary was definitely one to remember.  Apart from being a very busy sporting term, our hockey boys played to the best of their abilities.

 This year we were proud to be able to have the following teams: u.7ABC, u.8ABC, u.9ABC, U.10ABC, u.11AB and u.13 ABC.

 The u.11 hockey boys this year were a team to be reckoned with. The two goalkeepers Jaco Koegelenberg u.11A and Marcus Babl u.11B tried their best to perfect their goal of keeping the ball out of the box.  They made some fantastic saves!

Ryk de Kock, Emile van Heerden, Gerard de La Bat and Anderson Lombard showed exceptional hockey skills.

A big thank you to all the u.11’s who attended practices devotedly and played consistently during the whole season.

 The U13 B+C teams played various matches and to date the u13 B’s only lost one game this 2011 season.   The u13B and C’s also played in various tournaments this season and fun was had by all.

Die o.13A span het ‘n baie goeie seisoen gehad waar hulle 15 wedstryde gespeel het: 9 is gewen, 2 gelykop gespeel en slegs 4 wedstryde is verloor. Die span onder leiding van hul kaptein, Marco Visser, het op vele vlakke hul beste getoon. Hulle het hard teruggeveg as hulle agter was, met styl gewen en hul opponent met respek hanteer en sodoende ons skool se naam hoog gehou deur hul optrede op en van die veld.

 We had three boys chosen for the Boland provincial sides: Altus Karsten, Darren Minnies and Christian van der Wath.  During the last week of the second term, a group of u.13 A boys had the opportunity to tour the West Coast.  Our boys focused on teambuilding and we played matches against Curro Primary from Langebaan. 

 Our biggest challenge for this season was INTERSCHOOLS! Our boys played with great skill and determination.  Die seuns was almal baie gretig en het hul beste gelewer op die dag met die meeste van ons laer spanne wat groot tellings op die telbord kon sit.

We ended off our season by having a family orientated hockey tournament on the PSS fields.  Parents’ skills were put to the test and our boys had to play hard in order to match up to some of the parents.  The boys as well as the parents had great fun.
