ACADEMICS AT PAARL BOYS' PRIMARY SCHOOL Marinda le Roux (Intermediate and Senior Phase), Sandra Pepler (Foundation Phase) Learners follow the National Curriculum as laid down by the Department of Education. About six years ago a project was started here at school where teachers had to create and produce their own learning material for the different Learning Areas according to the instructions and criteria as set out by the Department of Education. Each Learning Area has a set of Modules. This has been an ongoing process and continues to change according to needs and new ideas. All Learning Material is saved and available on the school Intranet and data base. It is available for teachers to upgrade and adapt on an ongoing basis. In this manner the learner has the advantage of the latest trends in teaching and new information concerning learning material in the different Learning Areas. Grade 7 learners make use of text books supplied by the Department of Education free of charge! These text books cover the following Learning Areas: Mathematics, Natural Science and First Additional Language. Teachers attend workshops on a regular basis in the different Learning Areas in order to stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in teaching and in each subject. In this manner teachers are able to improve their teaching methods and pass on further knowledge to the learners they teach.
